Currently I am undertaking an internship in Utrecht, Netherlands with the renowned design team consisting of Tejo Remy + Rene Veenhuizen. Through this blog I plan to document my design experience in Holland.
The Midland Junction Building which has recently been converted into an art studio space is ready to be opened. You are all invited to attend the launch on the 30th of April 2010, Spring St Midland, WA. Hope to see you there!
Design has the potential to change people;
through a combination of aesthetic excellence
with sustainable mindfulness underlying the
products function and the process used to
create it. Such a piece, is for the consumer, a
beautiful choice, a responsible choice and a
wise choice.
I have developed a strong design philosophy
throughout my studies, which supports
principals of sustainability, minimizing
the impact on our environment. Avoiding
disposable design, I aspire to produce
design which creates positive change in the
consumer. It is a designer’s responsibility to
produce socially progressive design, which
also responds to the changing environmental
context.
Threading these principals of sustainable
design through my work is a perpetual learning
process, requiring constant evaluation and
reflection. My work to date has enabled me
to practically apply the basics of sustainable
design.
